Just Another Day

Today is Thanksgiving, although it’s a day like any other day in Australia. Someone asked yesterday what Thanksgiving is and why we have it, so Rob and I launched into a small explanation involving the words pilgrims and bounty. I’ve been feeling a bit sorry for myself; since Rob is working today we won’t be having a Thanksgiving dinner until next week. (We’re going out of town tomorrow.) So, to remind myself of the reason for this holiday, I am posting the List of Things Erica is Thankful For*.

I am thankful that Rob and I are both in good health.
I am thankful that I have such good friends.
I am thankful for my family.
I am thankful for my friends.
I am thankful for the many opportunities I have been given.
I am thankful for God’s monetary provision.
I am thankful for my wonderful and caring husband.
I am thankful for all the things I have learned.
I am thankful for email and international phone cards.
I am thankful for our nice home on the other side of the world.
I am thankful for free petrol from the hospital.
I am thankful for beautiful things.
I am thankful for nature and wildlife.
I am thankful for my nieces.
I am thankful for always having plenty to eat.
I am thankful for not having to work.
I am thankful for the chance to take care of Rob.
I am thankful for Rob’s ability to take beautiful pictures of the places we have been.
I am thankful for blue pumpkins that make me laugh.
I am thankful for all of the wonderful memories I am creating.
I am thankful for the ability to cook.
I am thankful for the creative talents God has given me.

*Not a comprehensive list.

Happy post-Thanksgiving Day! (or however the time difference translates…I dont know what day it is there.) It is certainly strange being away from your homeland on this very-American holiday. I hope that you guys were able to eat some good food and enjoy each others company all the moreso. Good idea about making a list, too. Take care!

Blessings, Corrine

Happy birthday (11-28-04) Erica. We are thinking of you and the many happy birthday celebrations we had when you were home. Dinner in S&P Oyster will not be the same without you and we won’t get the 27% discount on your lobster this year. Enjoy yourself to your heart’s content.
