Highlights of Tauranga
I’m done! I worked my last shift in our Down Under year long adventure! It felt sad to leave the hosptial on multiple levels. I will miss the interactions of colleagues that I have worked side by side for the past 6 months. I will miss many of the personalities. My pet peves of the hospital, I will gladly leave behind. I thought I would reflect on the best parts of this experience…
1.) Learning to surf! There really is something “spiritual” about being in the water and riding the waves at sunset or when a rainbow breaks through the clouds. Surfing with your mates, is there a better way to spend an afternoon?
2.) Walking Mauao. I love this beautiful volcanic mountain that sits magestically at the end of the beach. I love how the top of the mount has the temperate rainforest feel with ferns and lush green flora. I love to sit at the top and watch the paragliders jump off the edge into a azure ocean horizon.
3.) The beach. I love the white sandy surf beach with its beutiful turquoise crystal clear Pacific ocean water. The water takes on a different color and mood depending on the cloud cover, sunshine, wind…
4.) Sunsets on the boardwalk. I have seen so many gorgeous sunsets walking on the boardwalk of the beach with just the perfect pallate of pink, purple and red as the sun sets behind Mauao.
5.) Jam Sessions. We have discovered a new passion for music with our friends Tim and Claire and our late night jam sessions. Its been so much fun exlporing on the guitar and making music with other people again.
6.) Tauranga night life. For such a small place, this city really packs in a great night life scene. Almost every place has live music and per New Zealand law, all venues are smoke free! We could learn alot from Kiwis about having fun in a smokre free environment.
7.) New Zealand Landscapes. New Zealand is truly a beautiful country. Blessed with an amzaingly diverse landscape, God really has left his hand on the beuatiful landscapes of this country.
Its been fun to reflect on some of the great things about this exprience. Tauranga you will be missed!
