Random thoughts on a Thursday morning...
KC Metro Customer Advisor Team
Yesterday’s CAT meeting was fun — and interesting. There are a lot of good people who ride (and manage) the bus here in Kansas City. I was happy to have gotten a chance to meet some of them. We talked about everything from the courtesy of the driver and the cleanliness of the busses to route schedules and placement of stops. It’s hard to get a lot accomplished in an hour meeting, but we talked about more than I thought we would… Time will tell whether or not any of the indicated “problems” will be resolved.
One cool detail: within the next year or so, all of the KC Metro busses will be outfitted with fairly sophisticated GPS systems, allowing all of the busses to communicate with each other and with the main bus terminal — there may even be real-time digital bus schedules at some of the stops.
At the next CAT meeting, we’re going to get to see the unveiling of the new MAX bus system.
Music
On my way to work this morning, I was reading the new issue of The Pitch. Not the best issue, but some interesting articles (as always) nonetheless. I noticed that a number of cool bands are coming to Kansas City this fall.
Of course, I don’t think I’ve been to a “real” concert since U2 a few years ago. I used to go to shows a lot.Unfinished
I’m in a slight place of waiting right now. I’m still waiting to hear back from my home warranty about our plumbing issues. I’ll call them late and see what’s up. I’m also still waiting to hear about about my most recent blood work. Maybe I should call about that too.
Visitors
Our first house-guests are scheduled already… Next week, my grandparents and my mom are coming to visit! It is so exciting. My grandparents are doing a trip across the U.S. and my mom is going to join them until they reach Kansas City. Then, my grandparents will continue on as my mom stays for a couple of days and then flies back to California. I can’t wait for them to see our new house.
Comment Spam
My old Blog and my Photoblog have been hit by numerous comment spam attacks over the last few days. MT-Blacklist has been taking care of some of them, but it can’t keep up with everything — like hundreds and hundreds of spams. I never had this much trouble with those Blogs before… How annoying is that?
Blogroll
I changed my Blogroll up a little. There is still only one link for the “Comprehensive List,” but now, instead of posting an OPML file that I have to constantly update in HTML whenever I add new links, I am linking to my Bloglines Blogroll. Now, all I have to do is import a new OPML file every once in a while. Feel free to check it out.
Mary Muses
Speaking of added links, my friend Mary has started a new Blog at marymuses.com. Mary has been religiously keeping a Blog for some time now with a features-lacking blogging host, but has recently moved over to Blogger so that she could have comments and an XML feed. Mary completed the Pike’s Peak Marathon the other day in 7 hours, 15 minutes. Simply amazing.
Political Goading
Finally, in lieu of the conversation we had the other day. I thought I’d post a photo that I took yesterday.
That ought to get a few of you riled up!No, really, I apologize for the blurriness — I took the picture from a moving bus. And, I hate feeling like I have to preface anything that I post with a political bent with: “I do not confirm or deny any affiliation with the statements I am making.” I mean, that’s just wrong.
What a week.

Just DCFC a couple months ago. They were really good but take note if you get feel like something just isn’t right: The drummer NEVER works up a sweat. My girlfriend and I BOTH noticed with a glance at one another with that “are we missing something?” Aside from the total geek fest that is the Deathcab fanbase, I thought they played well but the energy level just got lost due to a un-dynamic (however, very stylish) drummer. He writes such distinct beats but… NO power. In a band like that, you NEED a drummer that knows how to use power and finesse.. that guy NEVER used that towel next to him. ARgh! I hate that.
Burn that damn Kerry pic.
We are giving away a KMFDM DVD at the station… since when is KNAC known for its industrial music? wierd. Mike Watt.. awesome. But never seen him. I LOVED Firehose, though. I still have that tape somewhere.

That is a shame. I have yet to see them live, but I agree with you about the power/finesse thing… Totally.
(I knew that Kerry sticker would get you, Dennis!)
