I voted! How about you?
It’s 7:26am… Voting took about 20 minutes — and we began at the end of a pretty long line. All in all, it was painless and easy. It was fun too; it’s neat to see so many people out to exercise their “voice.”
I’m not going to write much about how I feel, as I will save that until after Theology Pub tomorrow night, but I did just check my own presidential poll, and noticed that Bush got another vote from someone, putting him one ahead of Kerry — it will be interesting to see if my poll turns out to be a decent representation of how the election turns out.
Anyway, since I haven’t disclosed who I decided to vote for yet, I thought this would be a good time: I voted for John Kerry.
There is one thing I feel like I must mention, though… I didn’t vote for Kerry because I hate Bush (I mean, Bush makes me laugh from time to time, but other than that, I’m sure he’s done just as good a job as anyone could have in his position). No, I voted for Kerry based on the fact that I can more closely relate to his life (the ideals he held as a young man as well as the ideals he fights for now) as opposed to the life of George W. Bush (primarily a businessman since graduating from college). In fact — and I’m sorry if I offend anybody — I think it’s pretty dumb that people are using the “just to get Bush out” idea as an excuse to vote for Kerry — to me, this is just as bad a single-issue voting. If you don’t like Bush, vote for someone who you can stand behind. If there is no one, write someone in.
Thinking of not voting? Well, that’s fine too. It’s probably not a bad way to go if you can’t think of who to vote for. Although if you do go this route, don’t expect me to listen to you gripe about who wins or doesn’t win. But, if not voting is your “statement” or if you’re not voting as a way to maybe live a little more like Jesus did, I respect that — I like statements and I can’t honestly think that Jesus would have any part of the political process (especially this one). His disciples on the other hand? Maybe, maybe not.
Anyway, there are issues that are worth voting for, besides the President of the United States… Go ahead, leave that spot blank, but vote for your local government and your local issues — you really can make a difference there.

Thanks for you support by the way.
