Thanksgiving...
A lot has happened since last Thanksgiving... My wife‘s father came up to live with us in Kansas City so that we could take care of him while he was taken by cancer, I had a heart attack, we bought a house... For some reason, Thanksgiving feels a lot more like New Year’s Day than anything; a changing of the guard that has nothing to do with the rotation of the earth.
But, maybe that’s always the way.
Tomorrow, we’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner for our family and some friends at our new home. This is some change from the studio apartment we were living in last year. It’s pretty neat to think about how life has brought us to a place where we can serve a turkey dinner to a dining room full of people. What a blessing for us.
Looking back:
- The Matrix: Revolutions came out.
- The first snowfall of 2003 was on December 3.
- The “Blogdom of God” was formed.
- I had problems with the term, “Postmodernism.”
- I began taking photographs every day.
- We had some fun with Blogger Idol — thanks Darren!
- The war in Afghanistan began.
- It was election year.
- I wrote a commentary on Galatians and it was “published.”
- I re-released all of my CDs!
- I began riding the bus.
- My back went out…really.
- I took part in the “Lessig Audiobook Project” — thanks AKMA!
- I got a recording deal!
- Some friends died.
- I redesigned my Adkoc website.
- We found out who Real Live Preacher really is!
- I turned 32-years old.
- I switched Blogging tools…
- ...and the look of my Blog.
- Then there was that pesky little heart attack thing.
- Our friends Rob & Erica moved to Tasmania.
- The Summer Olympics in Athens were fun.
- A house became ours.
- The house had some “fun” in store for us.
- Because of this Blog, I was chosen to be on the KC Metro’s Customer Advisory Team (CAT).
- Julianna and I turned 2.
- Julianna and I went to Chicago for the first time — thanks Jason!
- Jaques Derrida died.
- We got to go to a “Wheel of Fortune” audition!
- We were robbed.
- I did say it was election year didn’t I?
- Julianna turned…24…uh huh…24.
- Today is November 24, the day before Thanksgiving, our first snow.
Julianna and I were blessed in so many ways this year: through prayers, through our family, through our community of friends… Last year’s list is long, but our list of thanks and gratitude is even longer.
I can’t wait to see what this next year brings.
Anyway, with that said…
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
