Dimebag Darrell killed...

Dimebag Darrell Dimebag Darrell was killed last night. For some reason, it’s kind of weird for me. I was never the biggest Pantera fan, but I did enjoy some of their tunes. And Darrell was an amazing guitarist.

RIP, Darrell.

I was completely shocked when I first heard the news, and thought it was a hoax…but it seems genuine.

I can’t believe something like this would happen. RIP Dimebag – you were great – and also to the other casualties.

That sux man; that’s terrible. Pantera was the last thrash band I cared anything for. I was just thinking about them yesterday, in fact, and wondering if I still had a copy of Vulgar Display of Power. I hadn’t heard Damageplan.

Yeah, Vulgar Display of Power was a great record. I forgot about that. I may have to try to…ahem…download some songs today.

“Vulgar” is a great record. i don’t know if i put him in “legend” status like so many but its just sad that it happened to period. our station (KNAC.com) is playing pantera 24/7 right now. in anycase, sad that some guy was just playing guitar and he get shot in the head cause some guy wanted to. that policeman has my respects.

oops, i meant “happened to anyone, period”. i hate when i do that.

I listened to a bunch of Pantera yesterday — probably for five hours or so as I worked… There is some really amazing stuff there. Although, I’d agree with you, Dennis, that nothing ever seemed like legendary-status type stuff. I do admit that their sound was all over the place, though, and I love that.

Why must every cool guitar virtuoso die an untimely death?!

That just sucks.

the crazy thing is dimebag’s brother vinnie, who is the drummer for damageplan and also in pantera watched as his brother was shot point blank. then his drum tech jumped in front of him and took a bullet for him and ended up dead. vinnie is left with both his brother, and his drum tech dead.

Yeah, it is truly a tragedy… For Vinnie and for the crowd, etc. But, you are right to point out how difficult Vinnie must have it! :-(

Im not gonna be one of those guys who tells you how wrong you are about dimebag and pantera not being legendary…....but you must know that whenever a band or musician comes along and can influence music forever, then they are indeed legends…....I suggest you listen to the guitar solos for both Cemetary Gates and FLoods…...if they dont send chills up your spine, then its just not your type of thing….somone once said pantera has no grey area, you either like em or hate em…..........Dimebag is a legend weather or not i say it on a message board or not…......

Respectfully,
