Informatio: ,

Thursday night's all right, all right, all right...

Behind greatness (there’s a reason why the tickets were free).

Elton John - Live at Kemper Arena, April 28, 2005

Actually, sitting behind the stage out us closer to the band than those who spent the $85 (plus) for floor tickets.

Elton John is one of those guys that when asked what songs he’s recorded, most people can think of three or four (maybe)... But when you hear him play, every single song in the two and a half hour (plus) set comes back to you as if you’d always been a fan.

And, despite what you think of Elton, he can still rock.

Elton DougPictured here is — Elton John fan extraordinaire (don’t deny it, Doug!). I’m thinking he should change his name to Elton Doug (ask him about his trip around Kemper and how he made his way down to the dressing rooms sometime).

Clicking the two pics below will open popup videos of some video I shot with my digital camera. The first is “Bennie and the Jets” (, 1.6 MB) and second is “The Bitch is Back” (, 1.6 MB).

I would love to see Elton John in concert!! Thanks for sharing the clips and pics… A little trippy to realize that you probably would call an Elton John concert “rocking to the oldies” these days, and that people might not know that many of his songs – I was SO into Elton John in the early 70’s, his Greatest Hits was one of the first albums I owned as a young teen. “Oldies” were those songs they played in the 50’s, and danced to in bobby socks and poodle skirts… Of course, then I look at Elton’s pictures and it really reinforces that we’ve all gotten a lot older!

Ha! I just read the comments on your first post about attending the concert, and see that I just thoroughly put myself into the “older crowd” category (not that I didn’t realize I was already doing that!). :)

What I really want to know is: Did he sing Circle of Life? How about Candle in the Wind? Crocodile Rock? I need to know. It’s important. Sort of.

Christine ~ Well, when I say “oldies,” I’m using the term very loosely… I still do think of oldies as songs from the 50s… But, knowing that the crowd would be just a little older than I, I couldn’t resits throwing that in there! ;-)

I’m glad you liked the pics/vids!

Mary ~ Circle of Life = NO (thankfully); Candle in the Wind = maybe (we left during the first encore and I hear he did three); Crocodile Rock = a BIG yes (and it rocked).

I grew up on Elton, I’m jealous. I was out of town. “Your Song” brings back a flood of young memories, all wonderful, everytime I hear it…
