The best race ever!

Uchenna & Joyce just ended with one of the most exciting two-hour season finales, I think reality television has ever seen. The teams all vied for first place at some point in the show and the winners were definitely unexpected.

had pegged from the first episode. After seeing them battle through the most difficult of trials and some pretty bad luck, I am happy that they did win. Their personalities are immensely lovable and they seem like great people. They even got more out of the race than just the million dollars — they got their marriage back.

I don’t know what the future holds for The Amazing Race, but it will have a tough finale to contend with because of this season.

The Amazing Race seems to be one of the best in the whole reality genre of television. It is competitive. There are ups and downs, trials and joys. People are stripped down to who they really are. Overall, the show showcases shear determination (thanks, Julianna!). What is “amazing” about the race is how it proves that the human will can be tested, tempted, and tortured and still come out strong in the end. As I think about Uchenna and Joyce’s win tonight, I am reminded that a positive attitude and faith in the impossible is what it takes to win the game.

I’ve never written about this on my Weblog before, but I would love to see how I would fair in The Amazing Race. Maybe one day, I will.

Well, I agree. I only watched the last 45 minutes or so, so I can’t comment on how it stacks up. This is probably (in my opinion) the best reality tv show out there, although I don’t watch the other shows (even this one) that much. It was good. The best ever? Who knows since you and I don’t watch The Bachelor. Or do you? Ha!

MY EYES!

ACK! The seventh season of TMR is due to air on Thursday – and before I’ve even seen an episode, I know who the winner is :(

It’s not your fault – it was an unintentional spoiler. I’ll just blame Australia :)

Although I usually take in at least two movies a week, I rarely watch television anymore. So I am often clueless about what goes on in that world. Now and then, as tonight, someone at the gym has the TV on and then I get to be enlightened. Tonight it was Howard Stern — if I’m remembering his name right. For months I assumed that the “Apprentice” show I would hear people talking about was some fictional drama show. Or then, maybe it is.

Jason ~ On occasion, yes — I admit it — I can be found watching The Bachelor… Which is not the best reality show on television.

Cissi ~ I’m sorry! Yeah, I knew I was posting a spoiler, but I figured… Reality TV and all… Who would care? But, I apologize!

Joel ~ Ummm… More power to you. I wish I could say that I didn’t know who Howard Stern was! Wow. You’re a rare breed.

I’d agree with ya on this seasons results. This race resembled the one either a year ago with the white couple winning almost every time and an African American couple coming in 2nd or 3rd, but just like this year they won it. It was good times. Can’t wait for the next one.

I watched every episode this season and loved it, but I have to say with that last episode I’m not sure I can call it “reality.” When the pilot “decides” to let Uchenna and Joyce on the plane when the causeway has already been removed and the plane is beginning to taxi? My bet is that a producer is on the phone talking about extra product placement, etc. And Rob and Amber? My guess is that their all expenses paid CBS televised wedding extravaganza is part of the deal for letting Uchenna and Joyce win. Don’t get me wrong, I love Uchenna and Joyce (and think Rob and Ambah should have stayed on Survivor) but that last episode stretched it a bit….

Oh, I don’t know, Tim… You may be right, but I’d like to think that there was a little serendipity involved — call me a romantic. :-D

As for the Rob/Ambah marriage thing… Well, who knows? Good point, though.

Tim (not Samoff),
I’m very glad for Uchenna and Joyce and was happy to see them win. However, I had some of the same thoughts regarding producers making phone calls to American Airlines pilots…
