Twenty-Five years of Dischord...

“A New Generation of Punk at Dischord Records“

Dischord records has always been one of my favorites. They’ve remained a home-grown outfit ever since starting and have always treated their bands with dignity and respect. The bands on the Dischord label are genuine and always have something relevant to say. If you’d like to check out what Dischord is all about, pick up the CD, 20 Years of Dischord (2002). If you don’t like hardcore punk, you probably won’t like many of the Dischord bands. But, if you want to check out some highly energetic, socially pertinent, real music that doesn’t relent, then this is for you.

I also suggest taking a look at Instrument, an amazing documentary that spans eleven years in the life of Fugazi, one of Dischord’s founders, Ian Mackaye‘s (pictured) bands.

I heard about instrument but just haven’t gotten around to it. I like only a few hardcore bands but as a business, Dischord is highy admirable for its DIY standards.

Dude, Instrument is amazing… I can’t imagine following a band around for that long, but it works. I’ve always been a huge Fugazi fan, though, but you should rent it for sure.

With ya there. Fugazi is one of THE most original rock bands ever. We definitely agree there. 13 Songs is still the best but just got the Argument and… its pretty cool!
