Informatio: ,

Dude, is that my car?

No. It’s not… But it could have been!

Yesterday, while driving to work, I thought I saw my car sitting on the side of the highway. It was raining, and the traffic was moving pretty quickly, so I didn’t have a chance to pull over and inspect it.

When I got to work, I called the police to see if they could go check it out for me. I was told that the only way they would do that is if I could go out and meet them at the car. Well, I had just gotten to work, so that was out of the question. (The moral of the story? When the insurance company tells you not to touch your car if you find it and to call the police to take car of investigation, don’t believe them.) Anyway, I decided that if the car was still there on my drive home, I’d stop for a closer look.

Naw, it couldn't be!When I approached the car, I was sure it was mine: it was a Buick that was the same color as mine; the windows were either down or broken; the headlights were broken and the front grill was smashed in; there was rust forming on some dents on the top of the car; the interior was the same color; the wheels and hub caps looked just like mine; same bumper; same hood ornament… You get the point.

But, when I got closer, I saw that it wasn’t my car at all. It was a Buick LeSabre (mine was a Century).

I looked inside to find everything completely trashed — whomever’s car this is, they’re going to be very disappointed. There was garbage all over the floors and everything had gotten wet from recent rain. A total wreck.

Needless to say, the search for my car goes on. We’re pretty much at a loss for what we should do right now. We can’t really afford anything and the need for a second car is looming. Hopefully, we’ll find a good deal that doesn’t take a lot of thought.
