Theology Pub (or something)...

I’ve mentioned the idea of Theology Pub a couple of times before on this blog (I even created a logo for it over here). Of course, it’s not my idea, but it really is one of my favorite concepts for a “new kind of Christian” (if you’re into that sort of thing).

Over the last few weeks I’ve gotten to enjoy a few informal TPs... A couple of them were with my friend, Jeffrey — we got together at two different local establishments in order to discuss how we were going to co-facilitate some of our small group meetings. We had a great time discussing theology over a few beers, right in the midst of a whole bunch of people who were probably thinking little of (or not at all) about theology.

Last night, I got together with a couple more friends (Jeff, the aforementioned Jeffrey, and Aimee) at one of our favorite hangouts, . The agenda was to discuss the future of our small group and how it could best be led. (We take an extended break in the summer, so we wanted to begin a discussion about how we would all resume in the fall.)

We had a wonderful time discussing the different facets of our group and how the group could benefit from a few of our ideas (most of which — it turns out — should most likely be discussed with the group as a whole). I was blessed by the entire experience, so I thought I’d share a photo I took with my .

And, here’s to more Theology Pubs... Soon!

Nice Tim. What’s an N800 for the non-techies in the room?

Click on the link, Steve! (And, if you haven’t heard me mention it before, then you sure haven’t been here in a while!) :-p

Thanks – yah, I don’t do blogs very often. Had heard that you posted something about leading our small group. You are right – haven’t been here in a while. You know Tim…you could have gotten away with telling me that the N800 is this new camera phone thing that you constructed with things you had at home and that it is one of a kind – and possibly the next best thing that you plan to patent – and I would have believed you! :)

Tim:

Here in Portland, I started a similar thing for us guys at Imago Dei, but we call it “Pint Night.”

Across the Columbia, in Vancouver, the guys from our church have “Kung Fu Brew.”

Prost!

Sounds awesome, Peder! I wish we did it more down here!

Funny you mentioned this and funny I didn’t comment earlier, but the night after you posted this my home group leader and I got together at Hennessys Tavern here in Dana Point and talked a little about life, work, theology and such (over a Guinness of course). Main reason being no one else could make it, but it was a good time nonetheless .

Just thOught I’d share. :)
