My fake hip...

I went in for my six-week hip-check today. As expected, everything is fine…

I do have some abnormal pain that seems to be lingering — in fact, I’m supposed to come back for another check-up in six months, but the doctor told me to come back sooner if the pain continued for longer than another six weeks.

Artificial Hip at six weeksI also got some X-Rays taken (the first ones since the surgery). Pretty cool, eh? I can’t believe I have that much metal inside of me! (And to think I may actually have to do this again some day… Yikes.)

I was given a funny little card that I’m supposed to present to security whenever I fly now. I was told that no one takes the card seriously, though, and I’d most likely have to be checked out more thoroughly now. The thing is, after seeing the card, I know why this is. It’s just a business card with a handwritten note from the doctor’s nurse. I mean… Who would take something like that seriously. It seems to me like they would offer something just a little more official looking. Oh, well.

Aside from having the doctor tell me that everything looked good, all of my other restrictions were lifted. That means I can move my left leg in ways that I was previously told not to. I also get to stop wearing my (yes!). Finally, I get to start driving again! Pretty exciting.

Truth be told, aside from the occasional pain, I am feeling pretty good… And, I’m ready to go back to work. One more week and I’m there. (It’s hard to believe that it has already been six weeks!)

Nice pic, it’s amazing what can be done to our bodies and how we respond. Glad you are well on the road to recovery. And we are looking forward to seeing back at work!
