My fake hip...
I went in for my six-week hip-check today. As expected, everything is fine…
I do have some abnormal pain that seems to be lingering — in fact, I’m supposed to come back for another check-up in six months, but the doctor told me to come back sooner if the pain continued for longer than another six weeks.
I also got some X-Rays taken (the first ones since the surgery). Pretty cool, eh? I can’t believe I have that much metal inside of me! (And to think I may actually have to do this again some day… Yikes.)
I was given a funny little card that I’m supposed to present to security whenever I fly now. I was told that no one takes the card seriously, though, and I’d most likely have to be checked out more thoroughly now. The thing is, after seeing the card, I know why this is. It’s just a business card with a handwritten note from the doctor’s nurse. I mean… Who would take something like that seriously. It seems to me like they would offer something just a little more official looking. Oh, well.
Aside from having the doctor tell me that everything looked good, all of my other restrictions were lifted. That means I can move my left leg in ways that I was previously told not to. I also get to stop wearing my T.E.D. Hose (yes!). Finally, I get to start driving again! Pretty exciting.
Truth be told, aside from the occasional pain, I am feeling pretty good… And, I’m ready to go back to work. One more week and I’m there. (It’s hard to believe that it has already been six weeks!)
