More on the femur front...

A few days ago, I mentioned that I might have a possible nondisplaced fracture on my femur. Thankfully, the CT scan came up negative. But, what does that mean for me?

Most likely, it means that I’m just a slow healer and that it’s going to take me longer to get over the pain than it would an average person. I have been confused about this for some time, but yesterday, my general doc put it into perspective. He conjectured that since was what caused my hip(s) to go bad in the first place, it’s only natural that my bones might be slower in healing than someone else.

Um, duh! Why hadn’t I thought of that? And, more importantly, why hadn’t my surgeon ever mentioned it?

Oh, well… In any case, my bones seem fine and the replacement is nice and snug inside of them. So, I finally convinced my surgeon to prescribe me to some real live physical therapy (of which I haven’t had since the surgery). Hopefully that helps. My left leg has gotten pretty skinny and maybe some regular work-outs will help the pain go away.
