Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus...

That’s the title of a real Christian praise song. Seriously. I heard it in the background of an NPR segment this morning. Don’t believe me? Read the lyrics here.

But, that’s not why I’m here this morning (even though I do think it’s a rather odd series of words to assemble and sing to God).

No, I’m here to tell anyone who doesn’t know (and this really has more to do with my own Christian community) that our first Lenten Lectio Divina gathering was held this morning from 6:30-7:30a. It was a great time and more people showed up than I expected for such an early hour. Anyway, this is just one of the offerings for this season’s “Jacob’s Well Institute.” If you need more info, I suggest calling the church.

As some of you know, my history with practicing Lectio isn’t too long — I’ve taken part in it as well as facilitated for about four years now. But, each time, whether doing it every day or not, it’s very rewarding. There was a time when a small, but dedicated group of us gathered at church to practice Lectio every morning for about a year and a half. After a while, most of us got burnt out and needed a break. This time, we’re only meeting once a week for the seven weeks before Easter. After this morning, I am very excited to see what the remaining weeks will bring.
